“Ville imaginaire”
Located on Île Sainte-Hélène, close to the ferry boat pier.
Sculpture by João Charters de Almeida, created in 1997. This sculpture is made out of white granite from Portugal.
A gift from the Metropolitano de Lisboa to the STM and subsequently to the City of Montreal, this work marks the 30th anniversary of Montreal’s Metro – and Expo 67. This monumental sculpture is the work of Portuguese artist João Charters de Almeida. It represents a reflection on how humans create mythic spaces, both out of necessity and in response to challenges.
