Things to do at the Parc

Parc Jean-Drapeau is enhancing and diversifying its program offering with a variety of creative, entertaining and educational activities that are free for the entire family. It's a great opportunity to have fun in nature and enjoy the green spaces and the gorgeous summer days.

Through this initiative, you will also be able to discover some of the lesser-known areas of the Parc, such as the Hélène-de-Champlain pavilion's garden. This magnificent place, which is steeped in history, is where the citizens' activities will be taking place during the 2023 summer season.

The Parc's team invites one and all to take part in the various activities at the Espace Roseraie.

Take advantage of your trip to the Parc to derive full enjoyment from the experience at this one-of-a-kind place: take a refreshing dip in the pool at the Aquatic Complex, indulge in what nature has to offer at Jean-Doré Beach, set out to discover the beauty of the islands on a bike, and much more.


Programming at the Espace Roseraie takes place during the summer season, consult the details of each activity to obtain the exact schedule.

Activities and workshops

Pumpkin decoration

A fun and creative activity for the whole family where decorating small pumpkins is in the spotlight. Participants will be able to bring back their creation to decorate their house for the Halloween celebration. This activity will be continuous.

Ghosts from the past

In this activity hosted by professional actors, people will be setting out on an adventure to get familiar with some of the ghosts haunting the Parc and learn about their fantastic history. This activity will be continuous.

The world of shoots and sprouts

A small horticultural workshop where expertise and advice will be conveyed to help you get any house plant to grow or simply provide you with an introduction to the pleasures of gardening.

Le Grand Carrousel

A theme parent-child workshop on the making and manipulation of puppets. Children and their parents will form puppeteering teams to make a giant theatrical paper puppet in the likeness of a merry-go-round animal. Each team will then set off with its puppet, bobbing up and down on the giant puppet carousel!

Bird watching

A trip through the Parc's wooded areas to discover and learn more about the many bird species housed there. An activity that will delight budding and seasoned birdwatchers alike.

Birdhouse making

Participants will have loads of fun making a small birdhouse using recovered corks. In addition to adorning your yard or laneway, this will be a great opportunity to provide the birds with a nest for the next mating season.

Interactive Castle: An ocean voyage!

A theme workshop-show in which children are invited to discover the art of puppeteering with the help of a boat castle and its clownish crew. The activity is animated by a zany boat captain who will guide the apprentice puppeteers in a laugh-filled ocean adventure!

Making an insect shelter

While the shelters aren't necessarily in nature, they will nevertheless help in the survival of insects who are beneficial for biodiversity in an urban area. Awareness-creating and shelter building are on the agenda.

Île Sainte-Hélène and its curious culinary history

A conference exploring the fascinating culinary history and the many cultural influences that have marked the Hochelaga archipelago in the Saint Lawrence Valley.

Homemade products

The sharing of ideas, tips and easy techniques to make useful products for the house, body and other areas: all-purpose cleaner, scrub, lip balm, etc.

Beekeeping and visiting the hives

An introduction to beekeeping activity where an expert will accompany you as you discover the inner workings of the hive. While you're enjoying the experience, which will definitely appeal to all of your senses, you can touch, feel and taste the various products from the hive (wax, pollen, honey, etc.) and see the worker bees in action.

Laurette et Arlette

A stunningly colourful show where musicians celebrate a far-fetched story through an assortment of unusual objects, musical instruments and movements. This show will amaze the entire family!

Voice of the jungle

Many animals from the African Savannah region are highlighted in this show, where storytelling is combined with musical instruments to provide an entertaining and immersive experience.

Edible and medicinal plants

A small outing in Parc Jean-Drapeau's green spaces will enable you to see and identify some of the vegetation there. The emphasis will be on medicinal and edible plants, including their properties and usages.

A workshop that tightens the bond between people and nature through awareness-creation, knowledge-sharing and discovery of the environment and biodiversity that surrounds us.

Outdoor watercolour

The surrounding flora will be observed, drawn and painted in watercolour at this painting workshop for the entire family, where the techniques and ways to depict nature will be highlighted.

Circus workshop

Many workshops will be available for children, providing them with an opportunity to learn about the various circus disciples, in a fun and safe environment. Workshop participants will explore juggling, balancing on various devices, basic acrobatics and clown-playing. The workshop takes place continuously and participants will be able to take turns using the materials.

Historical discoveries

Accompanied by animators dressed in period-piece clothing, history buffs will be able to familiarize themselves with the lifestyle and wardrobe of the New France era.

Percussion workshop

The musical artist Kattam will give the entire family an introduction to the workings of the djembe and darbouka, a pair of percussion instruments, and to the African, Arabian, Indian and pop music beats. The workshop takes place continuously and participants will be able to take turns using the musical instruments.

Learn about birds of prey

Animated by a biologist accompanied by two ambassador birds — a little owl and a peregrine falcon — this workshop will allow you to enjoy an interactive, sensorial and very real experience. The workshop takes place continuously.

Outdoor yoga courses

Yoga courses are offered every Sunday morning during the summer season where yoga enthusiasts of all levels can practice different yoga poses in a charming setting. Bring your mat and water bottle.

La Chasse-Balcon

The traditional Québec music group will be performing an outdoor concert for the audience's enjoyment. Artists will be taking to the trails, starting from the subway station and then head toward the Espace Roseraie (Rose Garden area) for the concert finale.

A mindful walk in the woods

An invitation to slow down the pace: a guided meditation walk along the wood-lined trails of Mont Boullé to re-energize and see nature from a different perspective. Discussions and conversations on total mindfulness and levels of gratitude will be part of the event.

An educational activity for the whole family, animated by a mad scientist, an event where professionals will be applying makeup to the faces of the participants to turn them into zombies and other legendary creatures. This will be a continuous activity.

The horticultural meetings are presented by Parc Jean-Drapeau employees.

The insects in our gardens

The various relationships between insects and plant life are featured in this workshop. Tips, advice and ecological management methods will be offered to ensure a natural balance in gardens and green spaces.

How to attract butterflies to your garden and identify them

A workshop where you can learn more about butterflies and get some tips on how to get butterflies to come to your garden. With the help of the free iNaturalist app, it will be easy to identify butterfly species common to our area.

Discussions and exchanging of ideas on the benefits of greening the spaces that surround us: reducing heat islands, increasing biodiversity and embellishing our environment.

The fiesta

A professional dance troupe will impart their know-how and lead you in your dance steps! This will help you to learn the rudiments of the most popular Latin dances, wiggle your hips and have a fun time.

A weekly musical get-together to enliven the nice summer nights and enhance the experience of the Espace Roseraie visitors. The ambiance and music offered by the DJs changes every weekend.

À l'aide d'instruments à cordes ou simplement avec la voix, plusieurs artistes viendront se produire en spectacle à l'Espace Roseraie pour égayer les débuts d'après-midi et offrir une expérience sonore aux visiteurs.

Line dancing

Fun and rhythmic movements to the sounds of country music are the order of the day during line-dance classes, where teachers will impart the basics of the genre that is becoming increasingly popular in the province.

Table tennis

Table tennis enthusiasts can practice this Olympic sport on the two concrete tables in Parc Jean-Drapeau. Racquets and balls will also be provided free of charge on weekends for those who do not have equipment.

Getting to the Pavillon Hélène-de-Champlain

To make it easier to get around, here is the exact location of the Espace Roseraie in the garden of the Pavillon Hélène-de-Champlain at Parc Jean-Drapeau posted on Google Maps.

Subway Station

The Jean-Drapeau subway station is located on Île Sainte-Hélène, in the heart of Parc Jean-Drapeau. To get to the Parc easily and quickly, the subway is still the best way to go!

River shuttle

During the summer season, Parc Jean-Drapeau visitors can use the river shuttle as a means of transportation, from the Vieux-Port de Montréal (Jacques-Cartier pier) and the city of Longueuil.

Users can also bring along their bikes and they have access to a network of cycling paths at each stop.

STM shuttle

Three STM shuttles provide a connection between the Jean-Drapeau subway station and various attractions:

  • 767 (summer season only)
  • 768 (summer season only)
  • 777 (every day of the year)
    • Jean-Drapeau Subway Station
    • Casino de Montréal
    • Since June 19, 2023, the 777 bus line is extended to downtown Montreal.

The Parc is one of the few places where you can cross the Saint Lawrence River on your bike: simply take the bike paths of the Jacques Cartier Bridge, the Concorde Bridge or the Bike link.


People can enjoy many of the cycling paths to get to or pass through the Parc Jean-Drapeau, either running or walking.

With more than 25 kilometres of trails and pathways, the Parc is a pleasant spot for hiking, all year round.


Motorists can get to Parc Jean-Drapeau by taking the Jacques Cartier Bridge or the Concorde Bridge.

Taxibus service

You can reserve a taxi for your travels at the Parc by using a valid STM transport fare.
