Schedule and details of Mont Boullé
Development of Mont Boullé's ecological corridor
The Parc has been undergoing a gradual transformation since November 2023 with the development of a new three-strata dense forest that is in continuity with the stages of Mont Boullé. The strata of a forest are stages of varying heights that include multiple related and complementary vegetation.
The addition of more than 27,000 vegetation, shrubs and trees will create an entirely new ecological corridor, enhanced by the wooded-areas canopy and this will significantly improve the islands' biodiversity while reducing the heat-islands effect.
In a few years, the Parc will be exhibiting a more ecological environment that is diversified and sensorial while providing Mont Boullé's abundant wildlife with a more spacious and balanced living space.

Rehabilitation work
The natural beauty of the premises is currently being altered by soil erosion and the degradation of the grandstands and stone walls. The health of this ecosystem and the overall visitor experience is affected by this.
A major revitalizing of the landscape is being undertaken:
Creating an ecological corridor in continuity with Mont Boullé's ecosystem: the planting of more than 27,000 vegetation, shrubs and trees.
Eliminating invasive exotic plant species: Norwegian maple and buckthorns.
Construction of three wooden walkways to protect the vegetation and promote the circulation of Mont Boullé's wildlife.
Improving the rainwater drainage system by creating a 334 square-metre vegetated infiltration valley containing more than 3,800 plants.
Restoring stone heritage works: playground grandstands and wooded-area walls.
Enhancing the historic trails.
Adding community facilities: furnishings, drinking fountains, barbecues, lamp posts.
Protecting the archeological sites near the playground and Petit Prince garden area.
Features and components of the sector
The balance between the site’s recreation-tourist vocation and the need to protect its ecosystem is delicate, but it has been meticulously planned out.
In conjunction with this revitalization, strict attention has been devoted to the preservation of the built heritage and sustainable development:
- Restoring of the masonry works by McFadzean, Everly and Associates that date back to the 1960s.
- Measures being undertaken with the aim of becoming the second Canada SITES certification project, after the Bonaventure project in Montréal was the first such certification project in 2017. The certification recognizes the environmental performance of building projects, from a design and construction standpoint.
