The Pavillon de la Jamaïque, which is nestled amid a charming setting and is a prime rental space for weddings and corporate events, was much in need of a makeover.

A bit of history

1965	Creation of île Notre-Dame
1966	Construction of the pavilion for Expo 67.
1967	Expo 67: Pavillon de la Jamaïque opens.
1976 to 1988	Floralies internationales de Montréal: the pavilion becomes a café-terrasse and is ensconced in the heart of the verdant landscape of the Floralies' decorative gardens, with its front and rear terraces.
2009 and 2010	Renovation and redevelopment work on the entire building with the aim of turning it into a rental reception hall.
2012	Redevelopment and expansion work in the catering and washroom facilities areas.
2023 and 2024	Renovation of the pavilion and enhancement of the landscaping development.

Rehabilitation work

Upgrading the Pavillon de la Jamaïque must be done to ensure it is a top-notch rental offering that meets the current needs of its clientele and ties into the Parc's strategic vision.

Restoring the envelope of the building to enhance the pavilion's longevity.

Major redevelopment of the interior, including the bar and kitchen, to ensure an adequate amount of space for event organizers.

Installation of universal access accredited by Kéroul.

Enhancing the landscaping development.

Modernizing the indoor and outdoor lighting to provide a cozier ambiance, enhance the visual comfort and highlight the pavilion's architecture.

Features and components of the sector

The restauration of the Pavillon de la Jamaïque is in line with the broader plan of preserving the patrimonial history of Parc Jean-Drapeau.

A preservation plan has been designed specifically for this building, in keeping with the Parc's overall heritage preservation strategy.
